As you walk along the beach, you can sometimes see sandstone and mudstone perforated by
Penitella kamakurensis. And it is known that the Penitella kamakurensis also pierces
abalone shell and andesite.
The name of the stone in the image is unknown, but it is a fairly hard stone.
It will only scratch a little when hit with a hammer.
How does a Penitella kamakurensis make a hole in such a hard stone?
The whole stone was carved into a round shape, so it was a long time ago that the
Penitella kamakurensis was inhabited.
